Newcastle Light Rail Opening

The Newcastle Light Rail, a light rail system in Newcastle in the Australian state New South Wales, opened on 17 February 2019. The service runs from Newcastle Interchange through the central business district to Pacific Park. Construction commenced in September 2017 and replaced the heavy rail line with light rail. It's 2.7 km long line with six stations: Newcastle Interchange, Honeysuckle, Civic, Crown Street, Queens Wharf and Newcastle Beach. A fleet of six CAF Urbos 100 trams operate the service.
