Steam festival 2017 in Maldegem was marked by 200 years of Cockerill. In 2017, it was exactly 200 years ago that the English industrialist John Cockerill was given permission to thoroughly modernize the Liège steel industry. This modernization contributed to the development of the railways and the steam locomotive.
